Honolulu

Day 2 in the middle of the Pacific.  Finally blue skies but the water is really rough and it may last a few more hours - actually more like a few more days.  The storm should hit the west coast before you read this.  Swells reached 25 to 30 feet Thursday and Friday nights.

There are 608 passengers on board with 72 Canadians.  There seem to be a lot of people disembarking in Sydney including our dinner mates from Montreal.  It will take them 24 hours to get back home  with stops in LA and Detroit.

This is really a small ship.  Len has a choice of 1 upright bike.  There are a couple of recumbent bikes, elliptical and treadmills, a few weight machines and free weights.  Princess policy is that any broken equipment can only be repaired in the US.  Len is hoping the bike will hold up for the next 3 months.

The walking track is less than 150 steps in a lap so there are a lot of laps to make 10,000 steps.

We have a lot of sea days in the early part of the cruise so there's not a lot to report right now.  It should get more interesting as we approach New Zealand.

Last night (1/25) was very turbulent - about 3 hours of the TV flying out and then slamming back on the sliding shelf as the ship tossed about on the stormy seas.  The bed felt like we were on a whirling carnival ride.   It was a welcome relief to land in Honolulu.

  1. Sounds exciting. I guess it wasn't a good nights sleep. The sand and water in Hawaii look inviting.
